Al Ekaider Waste Disposal Site Upgrade

The Al Ekaider Waste Disposal Site has operated since 1981 across 983 dunums under the Joint Service Council of Irbid Governorate, with a solid waste dumpsite in the north and 18 wastewater evaporation ponds to the south and southwest. Its upgrade is a high-priority project under Jordan's National Waste Management Strategy, funded by the EU through AFD.

Libanconsult supervises the design and construction works on behalf of the Ministry of Local Administration, under FIDIC yellow conditions of contract, covering health, safety and environmental compliance, progress, technical and financial reporting, and support through the defects liability period.

The works cover rehabilitation and closure across both zones of the site: the solid waste dumpsite and the 18 evaporation ponds.

Completion will close a four-decade-old environmental liability in northern Jordan and give Irbid Governorate engineered, controlled waste and wastewater management.
