Fakiha Waste Transfer Station

The Caza of Hermel had no engineered transfer infrastructure to move its municipal waste to the regional sanitary landfill some 50 km away. A transfer station at Fakiha was designed to bridge that gap under Region 1A of the national Solid Waste Environmental Management Project.

Libanconsult delivered the design in 2003 for the Council for Development and Reconstruction.

Scope covered specification of mobile transfer equipment with a 22 T capacity per haul, sizing of the transfer operation against the 50 km haul distance, and integration of the station into the regional collection and landfill network.

The station completed the Hermel leg of the Region 1A investment, letting the caza move from uncontrolled disposal to formalised collection and haulage to an engineered landfill.
