Fnaidek Dumpsite Closure

The Fnaidek dumpsite in Jurd Al Kaytee, Akkar, covers 3,688 m2 and holds an estimated 55,000 m3 of waste. Without engineered closure it continues to generate unmanaged leachate and water infiltration, with the environmental and public health consequences that follow.

Libanconsult has delivered the assignment for COOPI since 2024, across four phases: review and update of the EIA scoping report, preparation of the detailed design, conduct of the EIA including the public hearing, and support through Ministry of Environment approval.

The closure design covers regrading and capping to stop water infiltration and halt leachate generation, with specifications and bills of quantities for the rehabilitation works.

The Union of Municipalities Jurd Al Kaytee will hold a procurement-ready, environmentally cleared closure design, removing a concentrated environmental hazard from the Akkar region.
