Hbaline Solid Waste Site Rehabilitation

The Hbaline solid waste site in the Jbeil area held approximately 498,026 m3 of waste and needed targeted rehabilitation to bring its environmental performance to an acceptable standard for the Urban Community of Jbeil.

Libanconsult delivered the engineering assignment in 2016 for Badawi Azour Trading and Contracting SAL (Batco), the operating contractor.

Scope covered stability analysis of the existing site configuration, a hydrological study with stormwater channelling design, and detailed rehabilitation design covering waterproofing and drainage, leachate extraction and disposal, and biogas extraction and treatment.

Batco and the Urban Community of Jbeil received a rehabilitation design focused where environmental risk was highest, allowing the site to keep operating under improved conditions.
