Kastamonu Integrated Solid Waste Management

The KASMIB Integrated Solid Waste Management Project was developed to give the member municipalities of the KASMIB Union an efficient and sustainable waste system. Partial construction had been completed with national and private funds, but collection, treatment and disposal were not operating to EU standards.

Libanconsult provided technical assistance and construction supervision between 2020 and 2022, working with KASMIB and the Project Implementation Unit.

Scope covered construction supervision of the leachate treatment plant and the closure and rehabilitation of existing dumpsites to European standards; administrative, financial and technical capacity building; an equipment needs assessment with updated market survey and revised technical specifications for the supply tender dossier; and practical training in project management and post-construction facility management.

KASMIB ended the assignment with an EU-compliant waste system and an operator organisation able to run it.
