Rosso Solid Waste Management System

The city of Rosso in southern Mauritania relied on informal disposal and needed a municipal waste system built from scratch: collection infrastructure across the city and an engineered disposal facility to anchor it.

Libanconsult supervised the works between 2022 and 2023 under the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Promotion of Productive Sectors, covering monitoring and control of works, settlement files, provisional and final acceptance, and monitoring of the contractor's environmental and social commitments.

The works comprise primary collection sites distributed across the city, construction and equipping of the Centre d'Enfouissement Technique with all necessary installations and leachate management, and approximately 6.5 km of stabilised-earth access road.

Rosso has its first engineered waste infrastructure - collection coverage, controlled disposal and the access road connecting them - ready for municipal operation.
