Tripoli Sanitary Landfill

The Tripoli Sanitary Landfill is the anchor disposal facility for northern Lebanon, built on reclaimed marine areas beside the Tripoli coast to replace decades of uncontrolled dumping at the former Tripoli dump.

Libanconsult has supervised construction and operation of the facility for the Council for Development and Reconstruction since 2018, covering site-wide quality, schedule and environmental oversight across the marine protection, landfill, leachate and gas systems.

Scope includes marine protection breakwaters, backfilling of reclaimed marine areas for a 60,000 m2 sanitary landfill, landfilling of post-sorting residual waste against a foreseen capacity of 410,000 T, and construction and operation of a leachate treatment plant and biogas extraction and treatment systems.

Northern Lebanon's coastal waste management has moved from a legacy dump to an engineered, marine-protected landfill under continuous supervision.
