Tripoli Treatment Plant Adjacent Landfill

Tripoli's municipal waste sites could not accept two problematic streams: humid waste, and polluted excavation material cleared from a coastal dump. A dedicated facility was required, sited alongside the Tripoli Wastewater Treatment Plant.

Libanconsult designed that facility for the Council for Development and Reconstruction in 2002.

The detailed design addressed the handling requirements of both waste types, with engineering provisions suited to a site immediately adjacent to an operating treatment plant.

The scheme gave Tripoli a controlled disposal route for two streams that had no engineered outlet at the time - a facility distinct from, and sixteen years earlier than, the municipal Tripoli Sanitary Landfill developed from 2018.
