Al-Amerat Water Supply and Sewer Systems

Al-Amerat and the A10 catchment in Oman's Muscat Governorate are among the country's fastest-developing urban areas, and population growth outpaced the existing water, sewer and treated-effluent infrastructure. Two successive assignments were commissioned to deliver the planning and design package.

Libanconsult acted as design consultant to Oman Water and Wastewater Services Company, and initially to Haya Water on the pipeline assignment: design of the treated-effluent discharge pipeline from Al Amerat STP to Wadi Al Janhi, and the integrated water supply, sewer and TE networks for the A10 catchment.

The scope ran from concept through preliminary and detailed design, covering water supply networks, storage reservoirs, pumping stations, sewage collection networks, sewage treatment plants and treated-effluent networks, together with hydraulic modelling, tender documents and environmental coordination. The TE discharge pipeline is 10 km of HDPE 710 mm sized for 37,000 m3/day.

OWWSC holds a single hydraulically coherent design basis for water and sanitation across the whole Al-Amerat catchment.
