Nabatiyeh Wastewater Treatment Plant

Nabatieh is the principal city of South Lebanon, and it had no wastewater treatment infrastructure. A dedicated plant was programmed under the Council for Development and Reconstruction as part of Lebanon's post-war sanitation recovery.

Libanconsult supervised construction of the Nabatieh Wastewater Treatment Plant and its associated sewer networks between 2003 and 2006, providing construction supervision, technical assistance and shop drawing approval across the full works.

The plant treats 100,000 Population Equivalent using a low-loading activated sludge process, fed by sewer networks connecting the city's catchments to the site.

The plant gave South Lebanon's largest city engineered wastewater treatment and removed a long-standing source of pollution from downstream waterways.
