Jijel Water Supply Network

The El Aouana-Jijel coastal corridor in northeastern Algeria could not reliably supply treated water to its urban centres. A major scheme fed from Kissir Dam was developed under the National Agency for Dams and Transfers (ANBT) to secure drinking water across the Wilaya of Jijel.

Libanconsult supervised construction of the potable water works along the corridor between 2009 and 2012, providing technical assistance and FIDIC construction supervision across the full transmission, treatment and distribution chain.

The scheme comprises a 500 m DN 900 transmission line rated at 100,000 m3/day, a water treatment plant of the same capacity, a pumping station, storage reservoirs and the distribution networks serving Jijel, Taher and El Aouana.

The completed works brought treated water at scale to three urban centres that had previously depended on intermittent supply, establishing the Kissir-Jijel system as a backbone of northeastern Algeria's water infrastructure.
