Bekaa Water Establishment Asset Inventory

The Bekaa Water Establishment had accumulated decades of water supply assets without any consolidated, geolocated inventory or valuation of them. GTZ Lebanon commissioned a documentation mandate to build a GIS database of the entire asset base, to support planning, maintenance and institutional reform.

Libanconsult delivered the assignment between 2009 and 2010 as sole consultant to GTZ Lebanon, combining field survey, document review and GIS construction across the Bekaa villages.

The inventory covered every water storage reservoir, transmission pipeline, pumping station, well, spring, water treatment plant and chlorination facility in the Establishment's service area, together with their associated civil, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation works - each reviewed, updated, geolocated and valued.

The Establishment gained a single georeferenced picture of what it owns and what it is worth, and with it a basis for investment planning, asset management and reform dialogue.
