Chehime Water Distribution Network

Chehime, south of Beirut, has significant gaps and inefficiencies in its water supply - an ageing mix of old and recently built components serving a growing population. The Norwegian Refugee Council commissioned a full network redesign, with KfW financing, combining legacy assets with new infrastructure.

Libanconsult acts as sole consultant on the design from 2025, with a team leader, hydraulic engineer, GIS specialist and environmental and social expert.

Scope covers assessment of the existing supply system, preliminary design and cost estimate, and detailed design of a new 70 km distribution network with its pumping stations, transmission lines, reservoirs and water tanks - including hydraulic, electro-mechanical and civil works studies, EIA or IEE as required, and tender-ready drawings sized to NRC's budget envelope. Libanconsult also attends the kickoff meeting and reviews shop drawings during execution.

Once built, Chehime will have a coherent 70 km network serving the vulnerable Lebanese and displaced Syrian households that depend on the town's supply.
