Damour Dam

The Council for Development and Reconstruction commissioned a feasibility study for a major dam on the Nahr El Damour in Mount Lebanon, envisaged as a flagship drinking water and irrigation store for the southern Mount Lebanon catchment.

Libanconsult delivered the full feasibility study between 2007 and 2009.

The proposed structure is a roller-compacted concrete dam 95 m high and 260 m long, impounding 40 million m3 from a drainage basin of 210 km2, serving both drinking water supply and irrigation. The study covered topographic and geological survey, geotechnical investigation, hydrological and sediment studies, dam sizing and layout options, preliminary design, cost estimates, environmental and social assessment, and financial and economic analysis.

CDR holds the engineering and economic basis to take one of Lebanon's largest planned dams - 40 million m3 behind a 95 m RCC structure - into financing and detailed design.
