Dbayeh Water Treatment Plant

The Dbayeh treatment plant is a cornerstone of Greater Beirut's water supply. By the late 1990s, heavy use and deferred maintenance through Lebanon's conflict years had left it with ageing equipment and falling reliability, putting service to the capital at risk.

Libanconsult delivered the rehabilitation and renovation of the 120,000 m3/day plant between 1999 and 2000 for the Beirut Water Authority, in collaboration with Emit-Beb (Italy), providing detailed design and construction supervision.

The works replaced the plant's main mechanical and hydraulic equipment - pumps, valves and instrumentation - and restored treatment output to nominal design capacity.

The rehabilitated plant returned dependable potable water production to Greater Beirut during the post-war reconstruction of Lebanon's water sector, and remains a key node of the Beirut Mount Lebanon Water Establishment's supply system.
