Deir El Ahmar Water Transfer and Irrigation Network

The Deir El Ahmar area of Lebanon's North Bekaa depends on a mix of spring flows and constructed storage to sustain its agricultural economy. Earlier studies had sketched a transfer and irrigation concept to feed hill lakes and serve farmland, but no detailed engineering package existed. The International Labour Organization commissioned the review and design to mobilise the scheme.

Libanconsult executed the assignment in 2018 as sole consultant to ILO, reviewing the prior studies, preparing the detailed design and issuing the tender documents for execution.

The design covers 20 km of water transfer piping and irrigation network serving agricultural lands and hill lakes across the Deir El Ahmar region.

ILO and its implementing partners received a tender-ready package for 20 km of transfer and irrigation network in a strategic North Bekaa agricultural area - work that laid the groundwork for the later Ainata and Deir El Ahmar master plan.
