Jeita Spring Protection Project

The Jeita Spring is Lebanon's most important potable water source and feeds Greater Beirut. Protecting its watershed from wastewater contamination has been a national priority, and the Council for Development and Reconstruction commissioned Phase I of the protection project as one of the largest wastewater mandates in the country.

Libanconsult delivered the consulting services between 2011 and 2023: detailed design, tender documents and full construction supervision of the wastewater network and treatment plant across the watershed.

The networks and treatment plant serve the watershed's communities, sized and routed to capture wastewater flows upstream of the spring and protect its intake, with FIDIC-style supervision through to commissioning.

The works protect Jeita's water quality, and with it the potable supply to Greater Beirut.
