Jounieh Wastewater Collection and Treatment Plant

Jounieh, one of Lebanon's principal coastal cities, needed a wastewater collection and treatment scheme to replace ageing sanitation arrangements and stop untreated discharge reaching its shoreline.

Libanconsult carried out the feasibility study for the Council for Development and Reconstruction between 2010 and 2012.

The study assessed wastewater demand across the Jounieh catchment, compared collection and treatment alternatives, and set out a feasibility-level engineering and cost framework for the preferred option.

It gave the CDR a costed technical basis for taking a Jounieh wastewater scheme forward to design.
