Kesrouan Coastal Area Wastewater Scheme

The Kesrouan coastline is among Lebanon's most urbanised and environmentally sensitive, and needed a comprehensive wastewater study to set the region's long-term sanitation strategy. The Council for Development and Reconstruction commissioned the study in 1996; the mandate then remained open through phased engineering support until official taking over in 2013.

Libanconsult delivered the study and the follow-on engineering across that full period.

Scope covered baseline studies, alternatives analysis and master planning for the wastewater treatment and conveyance infrastructure serving the Kesrouan coastal area, followed by phased engineering support through implementation, including integration with coastal outfalls and downstream treatment facilities.

The study underpins the Kesrouan coastal wastewater programme and shaped the assignments that followed it in the region, including the Tabarja Emergency Sea Outfall and the Ghazir WWTP and PS4 ESIA.
