Nakhal, Awabi and Wadi Al Maawil Water Supply

The rural communities of Nakhal, Awabi and Wadi Al Maawil in Oman's Al Batinah South Governorate depended on ageing and undersized water distribution systems. A multi-phase programme, first under the Public Authority for Electricity and Water and later Oman Water & Wastewater Services Company, set out to rebuild supply across the three wilayats.

Libanconsult has been water distribution engineer across the whole programme since 2011: original detailed design and hydraulic modelling (2011-2012, PAEW), an independent design review (2017, PAEW), and design and construction supervision of the Phase 2 additional works from 2020 (OWWSC).

The networks total approximately 200 km of HDPE and DI distribution, with transmission pipes up to 600 mm, reservoirs up to 45,000 m3 and associated pumping stations. Scope covered hydraulic modelling, detailed design, tender documents and site supervision of the Phase 2 extensions, all sized to the operator's long-term demand projections.

More than a decade of phased work has closed the service gaps across all three wilayats.
