National Water Sector Strategy Update

Lebanon's water sector is governed by a national strategy that must be periodically updated to reflect infrastructure, institutional and financing realities. The Ministry of Energy and Water commissioned an update between 2019 and 2020 under UNICEF funding.

Libanconsult delivered the National Water Sector Strategy update in two phases: a Public Investment Programme phase and a Governance phase, providing policy analysis, sector diagnostic and strategic framework development.

The work covered sector diagnostic, demand and supply analysis, institutional and governance review, and preparation of a costed investment programme spanning water supply, sanitation, irrigation and water resources.

The Ministry and its donor partners gained a shared framework for sector programming and a basis for phased investment through the early 2020s.
