Rustaq, Liwa and Hadesh Water Distribution Networks

Between 2010 and 2011, Oman's Public Authority for Electricity and Water engaged Libanconsult on three water distribution design assignments across Al Batinah and Nakhal, each planned to a 2035 demand horizon during a period of rapid urban and rural expansion.

Libanconsult acted as sole consultant on all three: review and updating of the Rustaq network (2010-2011), design of the Liwa new planned area network (2011) and design of the Hadesh Habitation supply in Wadi Mistal, Wilayat Nakhal (2011).

The Rustaq scheme serves around 200 villages and 150,000 inhabitants, with 90 km of main distribution in DI DN 100-400, 400 km of local distribution in DI DN 400-800 and HDPE OD 110-355, eight new ground service tanks and a SCADA system. Liwa was designed for 80,000 inhabitants in a new planned area, and Hadesh Habitation for two pumping stations, HDPE reservoirs and distribution pipelines. Across the three, services covered demand calculation to 2035, review of existing plans and designs, detailed design of reservoirs, transmission lines, tanker filling stations and pumps, administration facilities, cost estimates, tender documents and bid evaluation.

The three designs gave PAEW distribution networks sized to serve 230,000 people to a 2035 horizon.
