Rahab, Rijma and Dabaayn Storage and Recharge Dams

In Oman's Wadis Bani Umar and Rijma, a targeted programme of small storage and recharge dams with a flood protection dike was developed to improve water security for groundwater-dependent communities and cut flash-flood risk from cyclonic events, under the Ministry of Regional Municipalities and Water Resources.

Libanconsult delivered the feasibility study review and detailed design in 2015, taking the scheme from review through to tender-ready documentation.

The programme covers four structures: the R3 rubble masonry storage dam in Wadi Rijma (58 m long, 12 m high), the Rahab rubble masonry storage dam in Wadi Bani Umar (67.5 m, 12 m), the Dabaayn earthfill recharge dam in Wadi Rijma (140 m, 16 m) and the Arja gabion and rip-rap flood protection dike in Wadi Bani Umar (140 m, 5 m). Services covered topographic and geological survey, geotechnical investigation, hydrological studies, preliminary design, environmental impact assessment, detailed design with quantity surveying, bill of quantities and full tender documentation.

The Ministry received a construction-ready package of four structures serving both aquifer recharge and flood-risk mitigation.
