Bekaa Hill Lakes, Irrigation Canals and Farm Roads

The PARSIFAL Project (Appui a la Resilience Sociale, aux Infrastructures, aux Forets et a l'Agriculture au Liban), financed by Agence Francaise de Developpement, works to improve living conditions for vulnerable Lebanese and Syrian populations in the areas worst affected by the Syrian crisis, with the Bekaa and Akkar as priority geographies.

Libanconsult was engaged by the Council for Development and Reconstruction as sole consultant for Lot 1 (Bekaa), assisting in bid evaluation and supervising construction, with a team of team leader, hydraulic engineer, GIS specialist and environmental and social expert.

The works cover hill lakes, irrigation canals and agricultural roads across six Bekaa communities - Ainata, Aqabeh, Arouba, Deir El Ahmar, Rachaya El Wadi and Zrazir - supervised against AFD compliance requirements, environmental and social safeguards and contractual oversight of the construction programme.

Six vulnerable Bekaa communities gain water storage and irrigation capacity built under independent supervision.
