Abdeh Port

Abdeh, on the Akkar coast of northern Lebanon, needed a modern fishing port to shelter its fleet and serve the surrounding community.

Libanconsult designed and supervised the port for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport across an extended programme from 1990 to 2001, with construction in phases under continuous supervision.

The port comprises a 360 m main breakwater at 6 m depth protected with armour material, together with quay, jetties, port buildings and ancillary works sized for the local fleet and conditions.

At 360 m, Abdeh has the longest breakwater of any port in this portfolio, sheltering the Akkar coastal community's entire fishing fleet.
