Ouzai Port

Ouzai, on Beirut's southern coast, is a densely populated fishing community that needed both a modernised port and continuing dredging to hold its navigation depths.

Libanconsult delivered three successive assignments for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport: the original port design and supervision (2000-2003, execution in phases), a further design (2011-2012) and the design and supervision of sand-dredging works (2011-2014).

The original port comprises a 242 m main breakwater at 10 m depth protected with 16 m3 Accropode and armour, with quay, jetties, buildings and ancillary works. The 2011-2012 design added a 300 m underwater-concrete quay with three underwater-concrete jetties and associated buildings. The dredging assignment removed 200,000 m3 of sand across two zones to restore levels of 4 m and 3 m.

Ouzai's fleet operates from a well-equipped port whose depths have been actively maintained across fourteen years of continuous engagement.
